After leaving a career as an engineer in Silicon Valley, he founded Bayes Impact in 2014, an NGO that applies artificial intelligence for the common good. Technologies developed by Bayes Impact have impacted several million beneficiaries, with projects ranging from employment to healthcare, as well as reducing police violence in California and managing Covid contact cases in France.
Paul has also helped theorize new modes of collaboration between public authorities and civil society. He is notably the originator of the concept of “citizen public service,” a doctrine that has led to the creation of several innovation programs by the French government.
His work has been recognized with numerous awards, having been elected an Ashoka Fellow, Forbes 30 under 30, MIT 35 under 35, and a Young Leader of the Aspen Institute. He studied mathematics, economics, and political science at the University of Berkeley (receiving the Berkeley-Sciences Po prize in economics), Sciences Po Paris, and the Sorbonne.
