Clarisse Agbégnénou is a Judo champion, elected Champion of the Champions and French Athlete of the Year 2021.
She has the best record in French women’s judo, with a silver medal (2016) and two Olympic gold medals (2020 individual and team), five world championship titles (2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021), two world silver medals (2013 and 2015) and five European titles (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2020).
She is elected to the High Level Athletes Commission of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee for the 2021-2025 mandate.
Along with gymnast Samir Aït-Saïd, she is the French Olympic flag-bearer for the Tokyo 2020 Games. On July 27, 2021, four days after the opening ceremony at the head of her delegation, she was crowned Olympic champion. She dominates the title holder Tina Trstenjak who beat her in the final in Rio, winning the golden score to win the only title still missing from her record. She then won a second gold medal, with France, in the mixed team competition that closed the judo program in Tokyo, beating Japan in the final.
